Job Abandonment

Policy Number: C.E.S.P. 1-14
Date Revised: 5-1-2006
Supersedes: 5-14-2001

Summary: Establishes a procedure for employees who fail to report to work.

An employee's failure to report to work for three (3) consecutive workdays, without first obtaining approval for authorized leave, may be considered by Cooperative Extension Service as abandonment of the employee's position and his/her voluntary resignation.

After consultation with administration, the supervisor will prepare a certified letter to be sent to the employee's home announcing the termination of employment as a result of job abandonment.
