Maintenance Supervisor C.A. Vines

Nature and Purpose
This position is employed by the Cooperative Extension Service, University
of Arkansas and provides leadership in maintaining and managing the C. A. Vines 4-H
Center. This individual serves as a resource person to the Extension faculty and to other
adult and youth groups utilizing the 4-H Center as a training facility.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists the Director in determining staffing needs for facilities and grounds keeping
operations.
•
Supervises and prepares daily work schedule for extension and foundation employees for
facilities and grounds keeping needs.
•
Assures the maintenance of all physical plant buildings, outdoor recreation facilities,
and grounds to include electrical, plumbing, H V A C, and carpentry
•
Assures that the water and wastewater plants are maintained and working properly.
•
Assures that proper testing, record keeping and reporting is completed for compliance
with permits, regulations and laws for the water plant, wastewater plant, and swimming
pool.
•
Assures the maintenance of tools, tractors, vehicles and heavy equipment.
•
Assists the 4-H Center Director and the Arkansas 4-H Foundation Director in assessing
capital projects and construction including drawings, cost and material projections.
•
Assists Director in training and/or determining the training needs of Center staff.
•
Identifies policy needs and recommend changes when necessary.
•
Performs other duties as assigned.
Relationships
•
Responsible administratively to 4-H Center Director for compliance with all policies,
procedures, and regulations relating to the operation of Extension organization and for
decisions relating to the general operation and maintenance of the entire C. A. Vines
Arkansas 4-H Center.
•
Works within the Memorandum of Agreement established between the Arkansas 4H Foundation
and the Cooperative Extension Service, University of Arkansas. Maintains a relationship with other Extension 4-H specialists assigned to the Center and
the State 4-H Office. Views the 4-H Center as an educational tool in carrying out and
supporting the county 4-H programs and other Extension programs. Serves as a member of the
4-H Center management team and works with the Food Service Manager, Operations Manager and
support staff for the efficient operation of the 4-H Center. Maintains rapport with other
subject matter specialists, county and district faculty, and Extension administration.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
•
Four years of experience in supervising the maintenance of physical plant facilities,
tools, heavy equipment and grounds.
•
Four years of experience in personnel management. Maintains or be able to obtain within 2 years of employment a Class 11 Water Treatment
Operator's License with Arkansas Department of Health and a Class 11 Wastewater Treatment
Operator's License with the Arkansas Pollution and Ecology Department.
Knowledge, Skills,
and Abilities
•
Working knowledge of the 4-H and Cooperative Extension programs.
•
Posses a genuine liking for people and be outgoing in nature.
•
Posses computer skills for operating word-processing, spreadsheets, etc.
•
Ability to communicate effectively.
