Accounting Technician II (Grade 15)

Nature and Purpose
The Accounting Technician II is a staff member of the Cooperative
Extension Service, University of Arkansas.
The Accounting Technician II position involves preparing
payroll, handling out-of-state travel performed by state faculty
members, making airline reservations, and the maintenance of accounting
records.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Processes accounts payable, prepares vouchers, and maintains related
records.
• Maintains letter of credit records.
• Maintains revolving cash fund account, prepares checks,
maintains checkbook, and prepares required reports.
• Posts vouchers for record of monthly expenditures.
• Handles employee fringe benefit enrollment and change forms on a
timely basis and maintains annuity cards.
• Operates computer terminal and typewriter.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Relationships
• Works under the supervision of an Extension Management Specialist.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships
with superiors and associates.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
• High school graduate (equivalency certificate accepted).
• Three years of experience in bookkeeping.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to perform data entry functions. Ability to type 45 N.W.P.M.
(per Extension test).
• Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and methods.
• Ability to compile and report information from ledgers and
records.
• Ability to communicate procedures and account status.
• Ability to operate general office machines.
