Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Nature and Purpose
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is a staff member of the
Cooperative Extension Service, University of Arkansas.
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk works in the Extension
warehouse, print shop, or mailing room. The position involves shipping and receiving of
supplies and equipment, assisting with the inventory of office supplies, forms, and
publications, and delivery of equipment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Loads and unloads supplies, paper, and equipment.
•
Assists in the shipping and receiving of supplies and
equipment and prepares documentation on damaged or incorrect shipments.
•
Operates forklift and pallet jack in a safe and efficient
manner and maintains service, as needed.
•
Delivers supplies and equipment to county Extension offices
and other locations as required.
•
Performs general housekeeping in warehouse and collects and
disposes of loose trash daily.
•
Counts, wraps, and prepares materials for shipping.
•
Operates large folder, paper cutter, large two-bin
collator, and other equipment as assigned.
•
Maintains accurate inventory of office supplies, forms, and
publications.
•
Uses computer to maintain mailing lists, prints and affixes
labels, and processes outgoing mail.
•
Enters data into warehouse computerized inventory system.
•
Operates electronic postage scales and meter.
•
Performs other duties as assigned.
Relationships
•
Works under the immediate supervision of the Print Shop
Manager or other designated supervisor.
•
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships
with supervisor, associates, and the general public.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
•
High school graduate (equivalency certificate accepted).
•
One year of experience in shipping and receiving or related
field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•
Ability to drive a car, truck, or van (driver's license
required).
•
Ability to do frequent climbing and heavy lifting.
•
Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
•
Ability to communicate effectively with clientele by
telephone.
•
Ability to learn assigned tasks within a reasonable time.
•
Ability to adhere to prescribed policies and procedures.
•
Ability to operate other equipment as necessary.
