Plant Warehouse Assistant Foreman

Nature and Purpose
The Plant Warehouse Assistant Foreman is a
staff member of the Cooperative Extension Service, University of Arkansas.
The Plant Warehouse Assistant Foreman is
responsible for preparing estimates for purchases, updates employees on new procedures for
ordering quarterly supplies, and educational bulletins.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Receives requested orders for supplies and educational
materials.
•
Maintains adequate inventory of all items in supply.
•
Researches various vendors for availability and prices of
supplies, prepares purchase orders for processing, accepts orders, checks for accuracy and
verifies to business office for payment.
•
Assigns line item and warehouse location numbers on
materials received and monitors order files for unfilled orders.
•
Answers questions concerning orders; assists in resolving
discrepancies in shipments.
•
Keeps abreast of new procedures and completes reports.
•
Maintains computer inventory of all educational materials.
Inputs daily from incoming shipments and supply orders.
•
Maintains departmental cost accounting for all items
shipped from the warehouse and provides a monthly report to the business office for
posting against accounts.
•
Participates in physical inventory counts annually or as
needed. Reconciles inventory count with computer records.
•
Supervises a small staff and runs the warehouse in the
absence of supervisor.
•
Prepares related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Relationships
•
Maintains cordial working relationship with all
Extension employees in the daily contact through processing orders to the various
departments.
•
Develops an effective working relationship with vendors
supplying items to the warehouse.
•
Works effectively with the Print Media Center in accepting
new educational materials and getting them placed in the computerized inventory system.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
•
High school diploma.
•
Experience with computer, copier and ten-key calculator.
•
Two years of experience in purchasing or related field and
store room supply operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•
Ability to write specifications for bid.
•
Ability to inventory supplies.
•
Ability to procure and receive supplies.
•
Knowledge of state purchasing regulations.
•
Knowledge of bid specification procedures. Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work.
