Payroll Services Specialist

Nature and Purpose
The Payroll Services Specialist is a staff member of the
Cooperative Extension Service, University of Arkansas.
The Payroll Services Specialist is a complex and highly
responsible position involving coordination of the preparation of payrolls and related
reports.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepares and processes payrolls.
•
Processes employer's matching benefits reports.
•
Prepares and processes individual retirement records.
•
Maintains accurate Cooperative Extension Service budget and
payroll cards.
•
Distributes payroll checks.
•
Maintains and reconciles Civil Service Retirement accounts.
•
Performs other duties as assigned.
Relationships
•
Works under the supervision of an Extension Management
Specialist.
•
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships
with superiors and associates.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
•
High school graduate (equivalency certificate accepted).
•
Two years of experience in payroll or related functions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•
Knowledge of methods and procedures related to preparation
of payrolls.
•
Ability to gather information.
•
Ability to review and assess collected information.
•
Ability to utilize computer system and appropriate
software.
•
Ability to maintain accurate records and maintain their
confidentiality.
•
Ability to exercise initiative, make sound judgments, be
discreet, and assume responsibility.
•
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
•
Ability to operate general office machines.
