Maintenance Worker II

Nature and Purpose
The Maintenance Worker II is a staff
member of the Cooperative Extension Service, University of Arkansas.
The Maintenance Worker II position
involves the grounds maintenance of the Cooperative Extension Service state headquarters
facility or Cammack campus facility.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Demonstrates grounds keeping and general
labor tasks to new and/or lower-level maintenance workers.
•
Operates equipment such as tractors, lawn
mowers, and weed eaters to cut grass and perform other grounds maintenance tasks.
•
Plants, sprays, prunes, trims, fertilizes,
and waters shrubbery and trees as needed.
•
Picks up trash and broken limbs.
•
Performs other duties as assigned.
Relationships
• Works under the supervision of the
Landscape Superintendent.
•
Establishes and maintains effective working
relationships with superiors and associates.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
•
Completion of sufficient education or
training to read and write.
•
One year of experience in
grounds keeping
and/or general labor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•
Ability to operate grounds keeping
equipment.
•
Ability to perform grounds keeping and
general labor duties.
•
Ability to demonstrate grounds keeping and
general labor tasks to other employees.
•
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
•
Ability to perform manual labor in an
outdoor setting in all types of weather conditions.
•
Ability to do heavy lifting (60 pounds).
•
Ability to drive cars, vans, and pick-up
truck with trailer.
