Landscape Supervisor I

Nature and Purpose
The Landscape Supervisor I is a staff member of the Cooperative Extension Service,
University of Arkansas.
The Landscape Supervisor I position involves the grounds maintenance at the University
of Arkansas Systems (Cammack campus) headquarters building.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Receives work orders and prepares work schedules.
•
Oversees watering, fertilization, pruning, pest control and disease treatment for trees
and greenery.
•
Cleans sidewalks, parking surfaces, and driveways.
•
Operates and maintains various equipment used in grounds maintenance.
•
Inventories and orders supplies and equipment.
•
Supervises employees as needed.
•
Operates pick-up truck with trailer.
•
Transports equipment to and from the shop.
•
Performs other duties as assigned.
Relationships
•
Works under the supervision of the Director of Physical Plant.
•
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with superiors and associates.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
•
High school graduate (equivalency certificate accepted).
•
Four years of experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or related area preferred.
•
Supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities
•
Knowledge of methods and techniques used in landscaping and grounds maintenance.
•
Ability to operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment.
•
Ability to maintain records and estimate landscaping and grounds maintenance needs.
•
Ability to drive an automobile, pickup truck, or van (driver=s license required).
•
Ability to do heavy lifting.
•
Ability to work in all types of weather conditions required.
•
Ability to supervise the work of others in landscaping and grounds maintenance.
