Director of Development

Nature and Purpose
The Director of Development is instrumental in planning and implementing
fund-raising and institutional advancement activities for the University of
Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Development accepts administrative assignments from the
Associate Vice President for Agriculture - Extension that may include:
- Planning and implementing fund-raising and institutional advancement
activities for the Cooperative Extension Service.
- Planning and executing comprehensive capital campaign activities.
- Securing private sector funding.
- Fostering stakeholder relations.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Relationships
- Responsible to the Associate Vice President for Agriculture -
Extension for all duties and responsibilities.
- Works closely with the Communications & Marketing Department,
Extension specialists and agents, and the Director of Development for the
Division of Agriculture.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Minimum of three years’ experience in major gift
fundraising.
- Demonstrated leadership in gift negotiation and
solicitation, strategic planning, and staff and volunteer
management.
- Experience in capital campaign planning and implementation.
- Experience in public relations or a related field.
- Experience in use of a computerized database in a networked
environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with the role and mission of the Cooperative Extension
Service.
- Willingness to devote a majority of time to fieldwork and travel on
behalf of the Cooperative Extension Service.
- Transportation available for use on the job with liability
insurance in effect.
