Associate Director of Physical Plant

Nature and Purpose
The Associate Director of Physical Plant is responsible for warehouse
operations and the operation of the Postal Center. The Associate Director
of Physical Plant is the person responsible for assuming the duties of the
Director of the Physical Plant in the Director's absence and works
directly under this individual's supervision.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervises warehouse and postal center personnel.
• Recruits, hires, and trains staff as needed.
• Maintains a departmental cost accounting system for all supplies
shipped from the warehouse.
• Ensures all postal procedures are followed and coordinates with
postal pick up service.
• Makes recommendations for the purchase of additional supplies
requested by employees.
• Responsible for the maintenance of equipment in the warehouse and
postal center.
• Responsible for coordinating with state redistribution on all
unused equipment.
• Responsible for storing and redistribution of office furniture.
• Prepares the necessary purchase requests to order supplies.
• Responsible for ordering and maintaining an adequate supply of
approved office supplies.
• Responsible for shipping quarterly supplies to counties and
off-campus offices.
• Responsible for supplies and publications inventory.
Relationships
• Responsible to the Director of Physical Plant.
• Maintains a cordial working relationship with all Extension
employees.
• Develops an effective relationship with vendors and shippers.
• Works effectively with the Print Media Center in coordinating the
receiving of Extension publications.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
• High school graduate.
• Five years of experience in warehouse operations required.
• Experience in postal operations helpful.
• Supervisory experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work.
• Knowledge of state purchasing rules and regulations.
• Ability to procure and receive equipment and supplies.
• Ability to write specifications for bids.
• Ability to supervise people.
• Good communications skills.
• Knowledge of personnel policies.
