Agricultural Technician

Nature and Purpose

The Agricultural Technician is a seasonal or temporary staff member of the Cooperative Extension Service, University of Arkansas. The position provides support and assistance for an Extension specialist.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists specialist in gathering of data for research or for the preparation of written materials.

• Conducts field work necessary in the establishment of demonstrations and other research work.

• Makes arrangements for facility and equipment use.

• Travels to field sites to conduct work as assigned.

• Assists with conduct of educational activities.  

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Relationships

• Works under the supervision of an Extension Specialist.  

• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with superiors and associates.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Some college education in an agriculture discipline preferable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.

• Ability to exercise initiative, make sound judgments and assume responsibility.

• Physical and mental ability to effectively perform duties and responsibilities related to the job.

• Ability to gather information.

• Ability to follow instructions and work without direct supervision.
