Employee of the Quarter

Summary: Employees of the Quarter will be recognized for outstanding achievements in their specified positions.

Objective

The objective of this award is to recognize the valuable contribution made on a daily basis by employees throughout the organization. We hope to foster a recognition culture in Extension to further encourage employee commitment and participation. Recognition contributes to employee satisfaction in the work environment and is a vital part of employee relations.

Eligibility

All employees with Extension appointment of at least 50% are eligible for nomination. Since the goal is to spread recognition among the many outstanding employees throughout the organization, an individual can only receive this award every three years.

Nomination Process

Nomination: A staff member may be nominated for Employee of the Quarter by any employee. Peer nominations are encouraged.

Nominations for county employees should be made to the District Director or Associate District Director. Nominations are made by three categories: County Secretarial/Clerical Staff, County Program Assistants, and County Extension Agents. Winners will be chosen from each district and each category (i.e., three winners for each district).

Nominations for state office employees should be made to the Executive Team (Associate Directors or Assistant Directors for ANR, 4-H, FCS, CED) Nominations are made in three categories: State Office Classified Staff, Faculty, and Non-Faculty Professional Staff. A winner will be chosen from each category.

Length of Nomination: The nomination document should be submitted on the miscellaneous template MISC-392.

Deadline: A call for nominations will be made one month prior to State Staff Conferences. Nominations are due 3 weeks prior to quarterly State Staff conferences.  Due dates in 2008 are: February 18, May 19, August 18, and November 17.

Selection

Selection of winners will be made by the District teams and Executive Team based on their interpretation of job performance. Award winners will be announced at quarterly State Faculty Conferences. State Office winners will have designated parking for the quarter. Quarterly winners will also receive recognition in the monthly Extension News, a lapel pin, and will be invited with a guest to a recognition luncheon with the Associate Vice President for Agriculture - Extension.
