Procedures for Purchasing Cell Phones

Fill out a purchase request P.U.R.C.H. - 305.  Prices and basic information may be found on the D.I.S. website. Email the Purchase request to jlipsey@uaex.edu, Financial Services and carbon copy the appropriate supervisor. The Purchasing Department will process your request.

Cingular and D.I.S. combined have a total of 12 Business days to deliver the phone to Cooperative Extension Service, from the time they receive the request.

Help - Setting Up Wireless Voice Mail

Mailbox Setup

As a new subscriber to the Voice Mail, you will need to set up your mailbox with a Personal Greeting and Pass code.

1. Dial your wireless phone number from your wireless phone.

2. When the Voice Mail system begins, you will hear a message stating that the mailbox has not been set up. Interrupt the recording by pressing # sign .

3. Enter your temporary four-digit password: the last 4 digits of your wireless phone number.

4. The system will begin a simple tutorial walking you through every step:

• Choose and enter a permanent personal password (4-15 digits), then Press # sign .

• Record your name, then Press # sign .

• Record your personal greeting, then Press # sign.

You are now ready to begin using your own customized Voice Mailbox.

Changing Personal Greeting

1. Enter your mailbox.

2. Press Number 4 (personal options).

3. Press Number 3 (greetings).

4. Press Number 1 (change personal greeting).

5. Press Number 2to record your personal greeting. Wait for the tone, record your greeting, then Press  # sign.

6. Press Star to exit.

(When accessing Voice Mail from your wireless phone, airtime rates apply. Unless you have the phone 2 phone feature. In addition, when accessing Voice Mail from outside your Home Calling area, long-distance, roaming, and other charges may apply.)

Changing Password

1. Enter your mailbox.

2. Press Number 4 (personal options).

3. Press Number 2 (administrative options).

4. Press Number 1 (change password).

5. Enter new password (4-15 digits), then Press # sign .

6. Press Star to exit at any time.

Help - Activating Pager Notification

Activation Steps

Follow the steps below to activate your Pager Notification.

1. Enter your mailbox by dialing your own wireless phone number, either from a wireless phone or any touch tone phone. You will hear your recorded greeting.

2. Press Number 4 (personal options).

3. Press Number 1 (notification Off or On).

4. Press Number 4 (personal options).

5. Press Number 4 (schedules).

Follow the prompts to set your schedule.

(When accessing Voice Mail from your wireless phone, airtime rates apply. Unless you have the phone 2 phone feature. In addition, when accessing Voice Mail from outside your Home Calling area, long-distance, roaming, and other charges may apply.)

These instructions were provided by D I S/Cingular.

Roaming charges will apply only when a user is outside of the state.

Features

• Call Waiting: Call waiting is included at no monthly charge. A short tone will signal you that someone else is calling. Simply press the send to answer the call. Then, press send to again to alternate between the two calls.

• Three Way Calling: You can have a three-party conference call with Three-Way calling. To initiate this feature, enter the number of the third party while your first call is still connected. Press end to terminate the call or press send to disconnect the third party.

• Call Forwarding Immediate: You can direct all incoming call to another telephone number when you are away from your wireless phone.

• To activate Dial #71, the forward number, then send. Listen for the confirmation tone, then press end.

• To deactivate Dial #710, send. Listen for the confirmations tone, then press end.

• Call Forwarding Conditional: You can direct all incoming calls to another line when your wireless phone is busy or you don’t answer within a certain amount of time.

• To activate Dial #72, the forward number, then send. Listen for the confirmation tone, then press end.

• To deactivate Dial #720, send. Listen for the confirmations tone, then press end.

• Caller I D: Lets you know who is calling before you answer. Your wireless equipment must be Caller I D capable to use this feature. Use #67 before each outgoing call to block caller I D.
