Summary: Establishes policy for obtaining compensation for injuries while in duty status and the required posting of Worker's Compensation Notice. Extension employees are covered by either Federal Workman's Compensation or Arkansas Workman's Compensation depending on their appointment status as a federal appointee or a University appointee. All Employees on University of Arkansas appointment are covered by Arkansas Workman's Compensation. Compensation is provided through the University of Arkansas for medical care, disability, death, and rehabilitation as a result o injuries incurred while the employee is in duty status or a result of an occupational disease. Benefits are also available to survivors of an employee who dies as a result of on the job injury or as the result of an occupational disease. The compensation is available at no cost to the employee. All injuries should be reported as soon as possible to the immediate supervisor even if the injury is minor. The supervisor should contact the Payroll office for appropriate forms. A claim should not be filed under the employee's health plan. Required NotificationPursuant to provisions of the Arkansas Worker's Compensation Act, W.C.C. Form A-6, Worker's Compensation Notice and Instructions to Employers and Employees must be posted in work areas accessible to employees. Supervisors should advise newly hired employees of the location of the notice. Supervisors should contact the following when new copies of the Form A-6 are needed:
All employees on federal appointments including the program assistants in the Expanded Food and Nutrition program are covered under the Federal Employees Compensation Act, U. S. Department of Labor, for medical care, disability, death, and rehabilitation as a result of injuries incurred while employee is on duty or as a result of occupational disease. Benefits are also available to supervisors of an employee who dies as a result of on the job injuries or occupational disease. This compensation is available at no cost to the employee Employees who sustain a disabling, job-related, traumatic injury are eligible for continuation of pay status up to 45 calendar days. All injuries should be reported as soon as possible to the immediate supervisor even if the injury is minor. The supervisor should contact the Payroll office for the appropriate forms.
