U of A Board Policies
Division Home |
Summary: Establishes the policy to be followed in closing offices because of hazardous conditions caused by inclement weather. GeneralEmployees should make every attempt to get to work within the bounds of their personal safety. When early morning weather conditions disrupt normal travel, employees arriving within two hours of their normal starting time will be given credit for a full regular day's attendance. Employees arriving later will be considered tardy and will be charged the full amount of time from normal start time involved in the tardiness. Those who do not report to work when the office is officially open have the option of charging a full regular day's absence to annual leave or to leave without pay. All leave must be approved by the employee’s supervisor. In special circumstances, such as the office building being closed by order of the County Judge, University Administrator, or Governor, a determination will be made by the appropriate extension administrator if any adjustments to office hours are needed and will communicate that to the appropriate individuals. Any adjustment of office hours because of designated office closing will be charged to official time. State Office ComplexIn inclement weather, by 7:00 a.m., both the Extension web site, www.uaex.edu, and the main telephone number, 501-671-2000, will indicate if the office will be closed or if opening will be delayed. Therefore, all faculty and staff in the L.R.S.O., C. A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center, and the Lonoke Agricultural Center may check those sources of information for office closings. When no message is posted, the State Office Complex will observe the inclement weather schedule issued by the Governor's office for state employees. The inclement weather announcements for "State Employees" are made available through the major local TV and radio stations. Fayetteville and Monticello CampusesThe Extension offices located on these campuses will close when the University closes. County OfficesThe County Judge will determine if the courthouse and other county-owned office buildings will remain open in inclement weather. The County Staff Chairman should report any adjustments to office hours to the District Director. Return to Office Management Index |
